Summerhill, Cork

Traditional garden

A very old traditional garden on the North side of Cork City. A small garden to the front was perfect for raised liscannor stone beds 18 inches high, backfilled with soil and planted up with a mixture of colourful flowering shrubs and herbaceous perennials.

A small lawn complements the planting scheme. The long back garden is divided in two using an unusual hedge of Japanese maples. The seating area is again surrounded by raised liscannor stone beds and the colourful scented herbaceous planting scheme is dominated by the brightly blue flowered nepeta.
