Kilquade, Co. Wicklow

Large woodland/stone show garden

A show garden as part of the National Garden Exhibition Centre, Kilquade, Co. Wicklow. The entrance at one end is a beehive hut and at the other end is a moon gate. The garden has a large natural seating area with a large pool fed by two streams.

One of the most striking features of the garden is its natural undulating stone walls built from pink castelwrixon stone which in places are 9ft tall, six oval windows peek into the other gardens and give another dimension to the garden.

Large Japanese maples, tree ferns and birches give the wood land garden its character. The surface on the ground is bark mulch, which gives a lovely comfortable feel and the scent is also attractive.
